Interview with cosplayer Leonor Grácias!

Nowadays Makeup is connected to many fields mainly the entertainment business: Fahion, Tv, Drama (...) cosplay being one of them (and my personal favorite). That being said, I'd like to thank Leonor Grácias for this interview a future collaboration with our blog.
So if you like cosplay, anime, makeup and benefit products, enjoy "SpyGal"'s tips or great cosplay makeup, one of Portugal's most outstanding cosplayers!
Interview: [MAKARA: Can you explain to our readers what is cosplay, very briefly? Leonor: Cosplay comes from the word "Costume Play", it started in the US at Star Trek and Star Wars conventions, where people dressed as their favorite character. Nowadays cosplay is much more connected to Japanese pop culture, there are more people cosplaying Anime/Manga and usually events are more focused on Japanese culture aswell. cosplay involves many arts , costume making, painting, sculpting... cosplayers are required to pose for pictures, act on stage and sometimes even sing! All is made by ourselves.
MAKARA: From all the cosplay you've done, do you have a favorite costume? And why? Leonor: Yes, Mirka Fortuna and Freddie Mercury. Inspite of Mirka not being my favorite character (I don't relate to her as much as I do with Sheryl), the costume is simply glamorous, it has sparkle, pearls, lace and on top of it it's pink, it was the one I liked the most. Freddie Mercury was a relatively easy costume to make, but it was a challenge, I've done crossplay before (cosplaying as the oposite sex) but never one of flesh and bone, it requires a lot more characterization, but since I was a child I watched all his movements, moves, the way he acts on stage... and having people of all ages recognizing me as Freddie Mercury is just wonderful!
MAKARA: How important is makeup for cosplaying in your opinion? Leonor: Everything. A cosplayer need makeup, for stage, photos, to feel good. Despite the fact that when I do my makeup for a female cosplay I only switch between sexy and cute I know a lot of people goes beyond that: changing the angle of your brows, applying prosthetics , stuff like that... I don't go that far simply because I like what I do, may not be a great makeup but it always suits my characters. But I always wear makeup when cosplaying, even when characters don't wear it it always looks good.

MAKARA: Your popularity with cosplaying also allowed you a partnership with benefit cosmetics. How was it warking with this brand and cosplaying SpyGal? Leonor: It was something I never hoped to happen, something unbelievable! Working with this brand and the girls who work there who are super nice was, let me tell you, AWESOME. I learned a lot about makeup and their p+roducts and history, I met new people and now have a huge collection of benefit products! Combining work with cosplay is my dream!! I think everybody would like to combine work with the thing they love the most (their hobby).
MAKARA: By the way, any product you'd like to recomend? Leonor: I loved the They´re Real -Mascara, it's a fantastic product I don't need to wear fake eyelashes!I can simply apply the mascara and BAAM, my eyelashes look wonderful! Whenever you're going for an exaggerated look (for a cosplay) wear fake eyelashes with this mascara, you'll love it! SOmething I also like very much are benefit's illuminators, they're super soft but in the pictures you can see this beautiful gold shimmer it looks great!
MAKARA:Last but not least, do you have any usefull tips for cosplay makeup you'd like to share with our readers? Leonor: Eyeliner, blush, lipstick, are the cosplayer's best friends, with this 3 simple steps you'll look dazzling in your pictures, and there's nothing better than liking our cosplay pictures, they're the final product of our work!] Official page: https://www.facebook.com/LeonorGracias?fref=ts Deviantart: http://leonorgracias.deviantart.com/
